About | Amdanaf i
Hi everyone/Shwmae Pawb,
I’m Alex, your Welsh Labour Member of Parliament here in Pontypridd. Yet in actual fact, the name of the constituency is a little deceiving because I cover areas across Rhondda Cynon Taff from Pontyclun to Trallwn.
My role as your elected representative is to assist you with any local queries, and I am also able to escalate enquiries to Ministers in Westminster on your behalf.
I am Pontypridd born and bred and was born in Church Village – the Welsh Valleys really do run through my blood. I spent my early years training to be an Air Cadet in Pontyclun, sang in the National Youth Choir for Wales and spent my teen years socialising with friends at the Rhondda Bowl in Tonyrefail.
I joined my local community council seven years ago because I wanted to get more involved with the local area that I know and love. In 2017 I became a Local Authority Councillor, representing the area that I live in, Tonyrefail.
I was first elected to represent Pontypridd in Parliament in December 2019 and am a proud and active member of Unite and the Musician’s Union.
Outside of politics I can often be found with my husband Andrew, and our boys, Kieran, Blake and Sullivan in and around the constituency, whether it be in Ynysangharad park or grabbing dinner in La Luna in Talbot Green.

One of my biggest passions in life (alongside family and politics of course) is my love for shopping, watching sport (being Welsh, rugby is a big one in my household) and live music. Most recently I’ve been appointed as a Patron of the Tonyrefail Ladies’ Choir – a choir which I have fond memories of singing in myself!
I’m hoping to use my time as your Member of Parliament to focus on a range of issues that affect us locally. Whether this be the recent floods across Pontypridd and RCT, or the proposed closures to A&E services at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital – I want to use my voice loudly and proudly to stand up for the issues that you and I care about most.
As ever, if there is anything that I or my team can help you with then please do get in touch by emailing alex.daviesjones.mp@parliament.uk. You can also catch me on Twitter too @AlexDaviesJones, where I can often be found tweeting late into the evening while breastfeeding Sullivan!
