I want to be clear: I am in full support of the global Black Lives Matter movement. I will always stand side by side with my BAME friends and colleagues to fight for equality.
We’ve all heard the news about George Floyd, and I am shocked and disgusted that in 2020 we are still seeing such obvious racism.
This isn’t the first video of its kind, but it needs to be the last.
The powerful images I’m seeing across the pond, as well as the thousands who are gathering in the UK protesting in solidarity only scratch the surface of the problem.
Enough is enough.
Lots of people are saying this sort of behaviour exists only in the USA – and I disagree.
Racism and inequality is a human rights issue that impacts people across all continents and political divides.
As a white female, I find it hard to find the words to make a difference but please know I will stand up and stand against racism.
I want my son to grow up in a world where it’s clear across the globe that black lives matter.
It’s good to see people across the UK are talking about important issues such as race and privilege, but we can all do better.
Educating ourselves is vital to reducing prejudice and racism, and there are some fantastic organisations out there that all of us across #Ponty and #RCT could benefit from learning from.
