I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the Crowdfunder that our local Assembly Member here in Pontypridd, Mick Antoniw, and I set up has reached a fantastic £35,887. This money will provide much-needed relief for many impacted by the recent flooding across our local communities.

We are thrilled at the response to our appeal, but not at all surprised. This is a yet another great example of how our wonderful Valleys communities pull together in adversity.

We considered keeping the fund open longer, but in the end it’s about striking the right balance between raising as much money as possible and getting those funds to the people who are in desperate need of help.

The money raised have been transferred to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council who are ringfencing it for distribution to all residential occupiers in the Pontypridd constituency who have been, or will shortly be allocated the £500 Community Flood Recovery Grant.

I would encourage you to register your request for help here: https://www.rctcbc.gov.uk/…/Emergen…/Floodingassistance.aspx

As ever, if there’s anything I can do then please do get in touch on alex.daviesjones.mp@parliament.uk
